When prices usually move

The big sales in Germany over the next year, and what generally happens around them. This is general guidance, not a forecast. As our price history grows, we'll add what we recorded ourselves. Dates are typical and shops set their own.

Singles' Day

A big online sale that began in China and now runs at many European shops. Discounts often focus on electronics and fashion, so it's a good early test of Black Friday prices.

International Students' Day

Student offers cluster around this date. They're often a set percentage off, so check the price it starts from.

Black Friday

The biggest sale of the year in Europe. Many offers start a week or more early and prices can move several times, so the history before the day matters more than the banner on it.

Cyber Monday

Mostly online, and often a continuation of Black Week. Compare Monday's price with what you saw on Friday.

Christmas

Prices for popular gifts can rise as stock gets tighter close to the day. Late orders may also pay more for fast delivery.

After Christmas

Shops clear stock and gift cards get spent. Discounts often appear on gift items that didn't sell, and less on new products.

New Year

Sales restart as the year turns. It's often a gap between the Christmas and January sales, so compare with December's prices.

Winter Sales

Traditional clearance of winter stock, strongest in fashion and home goods. Newer electronics tend to move less.

Valentine's Day

Gift categories such as perfume, jewellery and flowers see the most offers. Prices for these can rise close to the day.

Easter

A smaller sale, focused on gifts, garden and home. It's often a good moment to compare with spring prices.

Mother's Day

Gift offers on beauty, kitchen and small appliances. The date differs by country, so the sales do too.

Summer Deals

Large online deal events in July push other shops to run their own. Prices often return to normal quickly afterwards.

Back to School

Laptops, tablets and monitors get the most attention. Last year's models are often where the real reductions are.

Halloween

A small sale in Europe, and usually a warm-up for November. Treat it as a chance to note today's price before Black Friday.
